Dear Friends,
 Pumpkin with Braces
Ever seen a braces-wearing pumpkin? That's exactly what my husband and daughter created for Halloween, and they had a blast doing it!

That's because it took both creativity and precision to design this pumpkin -- two of the signature strengths my husband and daughter have.

Finding your signature strength and using it often is a key to unlocking your happiness. If you'd like to discover yours, read this month's article, "What's Your Signature Strength?"

Warmly,
Dr. Darlene Mininni

Do You Know Your
Signature Strength?

Want to know a proven way to be happier, no matter what? Use your signature strengths. A lot.

What's a signature strength? It's something you're naturally good at. As a matter of fact, this strength comes so easily to you, you don't even think of it as a strength.

Your signature strengths could include things like: a love of learning, an appreciation of beauty, curiosity, or kindness. My husband's signature strength is his ability to organize things, which is why all our CDs are arranged in alphabetical order and by genre.

We all have strengths and the more you use yours in your work, relationships or parenting, the happier you'll be. If you want to know your signature strengths, look to your childhood. You were probably using your natural talents from the start.

For example, my husband, the organizational whiz, started categorizing his baseball cards just for fun when he was a little boy, and today his organizational abilities are a key part of his work. And I was always putting on plays and shows as a kid. And today, I have my own radio show.

Your happiness flows when you use your strengths. So use them as often as you can in all areas of your life, and you'll create a lasting feeling of happiness and satisfaction.

3 Questions To Discover Your Signature Strengths

1. What Did You Love As A Kid? When you were a child, what were you drawn to? Coloring? Playing sports? Building models? Those natural abilities don't go away when you grow up. Look to your childhood for clues on what makes you feel strong?

2. Do People Need Your Help? If there's an argument, do people ask you to settle their disagreement because they know you're always fair? Or do friends tell you their problems because they know you're insightful? If so, that may be a clue to your signature strengths.

3. Does The Time Fly? When you use your signature strength, you may feel immersed and time flies? Maybe you lose track of the hour when you play music or work with numbers or go on an adventure. If so, find ways to add more of those moments to your life.
