My idea of a perfect day is going to the beach, feeling the sea breeze on my face and gazing at the ocean. Here's the view from my trip last week to our favorite Malibu beach.

Malibu Beach ViewFor many people, these are the moments we stop and ponder our dreams. What do you dream about?

We all have dreams, but with our busy lives, sometimes pursuing them can be tough. And that's the topic of this month's article, "How To Follow Your Dreams (Even If You're Busy)."

Warmly,

How To Follow Your Dreams
(Even If You're Busy)

We all have dreams: to start a business, sing, or find true love. Is there something you'd like to do? Or be? But maybe you think your dream is too big or it's too late or you're just too busy with other things to make it come true.

Well, before you ditch your dream, let me share with you my "4 Dream Builders for Busy People," the simple steps to take you closer to the life you truly want.

4 DREAM BUILDERS FOR BUSY PEOPLE

1. Take Baby Steps. You can get closer to your dream by doing one small thing every day that takes you in the direction of your desire. If your dream is to travel the world: come up with a travel plan, investigate the costs, create a savings plan, and when the time is right for you, go for it!

2. Be Open To Possibilities. Opportunities often appear when you're open to them. So meet new people, try new things -- anything that will put you in a place where you'll find a path to achieving your dream. As Olympic Gold Medalist Mark Spitz said, "I always wanted be a dentist, but after the Olympics there were just other opportunities."

3. Can You Have It All? I think you can have all your dreams, but maybe not all at once. Maria Shriver, journalist and California's First Lady struggled with her competing passions until her mother gave her this advice: "Maria, life is a marathon. You can have and be all the things you want. Just do it over a lifetime. Don't try to do them all at once." I agree.

4. Focus On The Feeling Your Dream Gives You. As you ponder your dream, you may realize that you have to give up too much to make it come true, and you don't want to do that. So then ask yourself, "Is there another way I can get the same feeling my dream would give me?" If you dream of being a professional chef but don't want the lifestyle change, you could host monthly dinners for friends and dazzle them with your newest creations.

As beloved actor Christopher Reeve said, "So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable."
