How Resilient Are You?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Life can throw some pretty hard punches and even knock you down sometimes. So, how do you get up again? That depends, in part, on how you think about life's tough times.
Resilient people -- those who can mend and move forward after setbacks -- often interpret their troubles differently than others. Their thinking style protects them from self punishing criticism and helps them thrive in the face of life's inevitable hard times. It's not so much positive thinking as it is realistic thinking.
If you aren't already practicing resilient thinking, read on to see how you can incorporate this powerful strategy into your life.
Tip of the Month
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

2 Ways to Think Like a Resilient Person:

  • What's Wrong vs. Who's Wrong? Resilient people don't tend to blame themselves when things go wrong. Instead they look at actions and situations. Rather than thinking, "I've failed again. If only I had more patience with my kids," they think, "Next time, I'll do things differently."

  • Are You A Hero? Resilient people often describe themselves as the hero of their story rather than the victim. Instead of thinking, "It's not fair that they laid me off," they think, "In spite of my circumstances, I have the courage to move forward."
