For the Fun of It! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
![]() When I was growing up, I had lots of hobbies. I'd steel myself up in the sanctuary of my room and paint pictures or write songs. These creative outlets gave me a break from school and just made me happy Today, my life is much more complicated, but I still like to get away. I'm not talking about an exotic trip, but a vacation in my mind. A good hobby can do that -- take you away without going any where at all. When you're immersed in something you do simply for the joy of it, you feel good. Some hobbies that require concentration -- such as knitting or scrapbooking -- can become meditative. Other hobbies can strengthen relationships, like a doubles tennis game or a family movie night. Discover what makes you smile, and find time -- however small -- to pursue it. You'll feel better for it.
