Sleep It Off!

Sleeping Woman It’s no secret that most women don’t get enough sleep. That good old 6-8 hours can easily fall by the wayside when you’re just too darn busy to lay down. But getting enough snooze time can be the elixir you need to stave off a grumpy mood, boost your energy, and even lose weight.

One study found that middle-aged women who got 5 hours of sleep or less per night were 32% more likely to have a major weight gain than those who slept 7 hours. That gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “you snooze, you lose.”


Tip of the Month

If you’re looking for ways to brighten your mood, consider how much you’re sleeping. Although everyone’s needs are different, if you’re not getting the sleep you need, try to increase the amount when you can. Here are a few tips:

  • Skip evening TV and opt for an earlier bedtime.
  • If you have kids, try putting them to bed earlier, so you can sleep longer.
  • Cut back on caffeine, especially in the evening.
  • Write a to-do list for tomorrow so your thinking won’t keep you awake.
