It’s In Your Nature... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Try this exercise: Look at the ceiling. Now look at a
plant or a tree. Which do you prefer? Pretty silly
question, huh. We’d all opt for the nature image
because it makes us feel better. So much so that
office workers with a window view of trees have more
job satisfaction and less burnout than those who
don’t. The real question is why?It might be a simple case of biophilia, the deep need we humans have to interact with our living world. This ancient response — honed from our days surviving on the grassy plains — is so powerful that stressed out people feel calmer simply by sitting in a garden. And hospital patients with rooms that get direct sunlight heal faster than those who don’t. When we get a dose of Mother Nature, our brain waves shift, blood pressure drops, and tense muscles relax, all contributing to a happier mood and better health.
