Dear Friends,

March is National Optimism Month. I’m sure its’ founders would probably want you to know that optimists are less likely to suffer from depression and more likely to remain healthy throughout their lives. If you’re a pessimist, you’re probably thinking, “Great, I’ve got to floss, eat more fiber and now be optimistic too!”

The truth is that some people are just born optimistic. Their genetic wiring has guaranteed them a sunny outlook and can-do spirit. The rest of us, however, need not be left standing under a rain cloud. Optimism can be learned. With the proven emotional tool of Thought Shifting, you can gain the edge your fellow optimists have (and it doesn’t involve reciting rosy, positive statements like “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough and doggone it, people like me!).


Tip of the Month
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you have pessimistic thoughts like, “Yuck, I’ll never get a better job than this one,” don’t just accept it as the truth. Many people assume if they have a thought in their head, it must be a fact. Not true! Instead, play attorney. Put your thoughts on trial and cross-examine them. Find out what’s real and what’s your perception. Ask yourself:

  • How do I know this is true?
  • Do I have all the facts?
  • What else can I do to improve this situation besides think about it?
